Motorola and Four Leading Emergency Communications Equipment Manufacturers Demonstrate Project 25 Interoperability
Testing conducted on a Motorola ASTRO® 25 System at Motorola Headquarters
SCHAUMBURG, IL – Motorola Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced the successful completion of a Project 25 (P25) interoperability demonstration project by five leading mission critical manufacturers including Motorola, EFJohnson Technologies, Tait Radio Communications, Technisonic Industries Ltd. and Tyco Electronics. These industry leaders demonstrated a new landmark in interoperability by successfully completing all of the P25 Common Air Interface (CAI) Trunked Interoperability tests outlined in the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TSB-102.CBBJ required to claim P25 Phase 1 CAI Trunking Interoperability.
This testing occurred throughout the week of January 12, 2009 with an event culminating the activity on Friday, January 16, 2009. The testing was conducted on a Motorola ASTRO® 25 System (release 7.6) with subscriber radios from five of the leading manufacturers of public safety communications equipment. Test reports outlining the subscriber models tested can be found at. www.motorola.com/project25.
“This demonstration event is just another example of P25 manufacturers working together to advance interoperability,” said Bob Schassler, corporate vice president, Motorola Government and Public Safety Products Organization. “At Motorola we understand that true interoperability can be the key to saving lives, and we are dedicated to enhancing interoperability in the public safety environment.”
During the event, several tests within the TIA TSB-102.CBBJ were demonstrated. See more details about the demonstration at: www.motorola.com/project25.
This P25 CAI Trunking Interoperability Event was conducted by the manufacturers in advance of formal U.S. Department of Homeland Security lab recognition as part of the P25 Compliance Assessment Program (CAP) to meet customers’ immediate need for documented proof of Interoperability between P25 products from various manufacturers.
“Last year was an incredible year of unprecedented commitment and cooperation between P25 manufacturers toward interoperable communications,” added Schassler. “It is only fitting that we start this year with a Project 25 CAI Trunked Interoperability Event. We look forward to continuing this momentum throughout 2009.”
