Acer set to made strong inroads into smartphone market, says former chairman
Acer is set to make strong inroads into the global smartphone market, leveraging its competitive advantage in the Windows CE-based PC market, according to Stan Shin, founder of the Acer Group.
Shih made the remarks as Acer is launches its own-brand smartphones at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC).
For Acer, the launch of Windows Mobile-based smartphones is tentatively an extension of its core competitiveness in the PC industry to the handset market, Shih contended.
Acer chairman JT Wang has said earlier that handset revenues are expected to account for 10% of the company's total revenues in three years.
