Huawei Unveils Latest Innovations Under its IPTime Solution

Huawei Technologies ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, unveiled new products from its IPTime (IP Transport Infrastructure for Multi-Play Evolution) solution portfolio at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2009. The IPTime solution removes bandwidth bottlenecks in mobile broadband services and allows operators to implement end-to-end (E2E) IP mobile transport more effectively.

Huawei introduced three new product series – the RTN900/600 IP microwave series, the CX600 metro services platform and the PTN900 packet transport networks series – to further strengthen its E2E IP mobile transport offerings.

"Huawei' s latest products in the IPTime solution are the result of the company' s continuous efforts to develop innovative products that help our customers to deploy world-class services effectively," said Mr. Jeffery Gao, Vice President of Huawei Network Product Line. "Carriers can now future-proof their mobile networks and migrate to All-IP networks by leveraging the full-scenario mobile transport schemes supported by Huawei' s IPTime solution. At the same time, Huawei' s carrier-class Network Management System helps carriers simplify the deployment and maintenance of their All-IP networks."

The launch of the RTN900/600 product series makes Huawei the first in the industry to provide both hybrid and packet IP microwave solutions. The new product series will help facilitate the smooth migration of IP microwave from 2G to 3G, HSPA and Long-Term Evolution (LTE), while protecting network investments.

Huawei' s CX600 product series is the industry's first metro services platform to comprehensively support fixed-mobile convergence (FMC). Its all-inclusive clock schemes and interoperability, certified by the European Advanced Networking Test Center, mean that the CX600 can support mobile backhaul in any mode and scenario.

The PTN900 packet transport network series completes Huawei' s showcase of its latest IPTime products. Designed based on Huawei' s "Any Media" concept, the series allows fast access to base transceiver stations via any existing transmission resource, such as optical fibers, microwave and cooper cables. Key features of the PTN900 include its small size, ease of deployment, and easy installation of various plug-and-play cards. The PTN900 also enables flexible connection to mobile base stations and lowers operating costs.

With the introduction of the latest products, Huawei' s IPTime solution now offers FMC capabilities, providing carriers with greater flexibility and cost-efficiency as they evolve their networks. The complete product portfolio enables broadband services to be provided efficiently between mobile terminals and bearer networks. In addition, the IPTime solution complies with the 1588V2 industry standard across the entire transport network, enabling high-precision clock synchronization and meeting the LTE bearer needs of carriers.

Leading carriers around the world such as Vodafone, British Telecom (BT), Telefonica, China Mobile, and China Telecom have deployed Huawei' s IPTime solution. The company' s latest IPTime products are currently on showcase at Huawei' s booth – Hall 8, 8A115, Fira de Barcelona – at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2009 from 16 to 19 February 2009.
