LG and Intel will cooperate in developing future MID devices

Company LG Electronics and Intel Corporation today announced the start of cooperation on the Inernet Mobile Device (MID) on a new "Iron" next-generation MID platform from Intel - "Moorestown" and the new program - Moblin v2.0 based on the operating system Linux. Company LG said that one of the first Moorestown devices on the market will be the model of it.

MID devices based on Intel Moorestown, presumably, will consume 10 times less power in standby mode compared to existing devices based on the platform Intel Atom. The first commercial samples Inernet Mobile Devices on the new platform is expected next year.
