Next Generation Open Software Enables Rapid Creation of Eye-Popping User Interfaces that Exploit Smartphone, MID and Netbook Form Factors

HELSINKI, Finland — Movial, the company that inspires rich, intuitive Internet experiences, announced it will demo its Internet Experience Suite’s (Movial IXS) Advanced User Interface with the Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) OMAP™ 3 platform in LiMo’s booth at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (B135, Hall 8). Movial IXS is a next generation software solution that uses open technologies in rich Internet applications and 3D graphics acceleration. With Movial IXS, Web developers and designers can create eye-popping user interfaces that exploit the latest Smartphone, mobile Internet device (MID) and netbook form factors to provide new, value-added and differentiated services and superior user experiences.

“The future of the customer experience resides in the ability to create compelling and intuitive user interfaces that totally enhance and maximize the screen regardless of device form factor or size,” said Tomi Rauste, president of Movial Creative Technologies. “Movial IXS’ revolutionary design coupled with the power of TI’s OMAP processors enables incredibly fast and easy creation of rich and differentiated next generation user interfaces that not only embrace the open environment but deliver a new level of sophistication for next gen platforms.”

Mobile World Congress attendees will get a first-hand look at how the latest, most advanced UI effects have been realized on a Linux-based mobile device. The demo presents a home screen with live 3D background graphics, 3D UI transitions in application launching, fast PDF reader with zooming UI as well as smooth panning and rotating of PDF pages. The demo supports automatic UI orientation to landscape and portrait displays in Web based applications and presents a touch screen UI suitable for Smartphones, MIDs, netbooks and other mobile devices.

“With support for OpenGL® ES 2.0, TI’s OMAP 3 platform delivers advanced 3D graphics for multimedia-rich devices, said Guy Harris, TI’s worldwide ecosystem manager. “Combined with the strength of Movial IXS, OEM and ODM developers are now able to deliver best-in-class graphics capabilities and extremely fast and capable UIs.”

“The LiMo Platform is focused totally on the middleware layer in order to enable operators and manufacturers to have full freedom to deepen their consumer propositions,” said Morgan Gillis, executive director of LiMo Foundation. “Movial IXS provides a highly complementary customizable user experience layer and is exemplary of LiMo’s strategy which has secured a very broad following among major operators.”
