represented by 32-nm mobile processor ARM
The company ARM has demonstrated its first mobile processor designed for the norms of 32-nm manufacturing process. The new solution belongs to a family of processors Cortex. According to ARM, the new chip is much less than the predecessors (respectively, on the basis it would be possible to create a more compact mobile devices), as well as more economical in terms of energy. In addition, the manufacturer notes that the process of installing a new processor would be cheaper.
Developers will have access to the new 32-nm processors ARM already this year. While the names of the companies-partners are not named, but, on the basis of past experience, it could be Samsung, Freescale, Texas Instruments and Toshiba. Mass production of 32-nm ARM Cortex will start in 2010. Since then, the company expects to absorb 28-nm manufacturing process.
