Fans Can Get Involved by Recycling Old Wireless Phones at Feb. 7 Home Game

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Verizon Wireless and the University of New Mexico Athletics invite fans to go “green” and help curb domestic violence in our community.

Fans attending the Lobos’ men’s basketball home game against UNLV on Saturday, Feb. 7 can donate their used wireless phones and accessories to the Verizon Wireless HopeLine® phone recycling and reuse program. Drop boxes will be located at the southwest and northeast entrances of The Pit from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

“The Lobos are pleased to join Verizon Wireless for such a worthy cause,” said Paul Krebs, UNM vice-president for athletics. “We encourage fans to embrace this endeavor and help us make a positive difference in the community.”

“We are proud to team up once again with the Lobos to help us raise awareness of this epidemic,” said Tony Heyman, regional president for Verizon Wireless. “Together, we can help curb domestic violence and do a good thing for the environment.”
