Arima Communications to ship 2.5 million handsets in 1Q09, says paper
Taiwan handset maker Arima Communications is expected to ship 2.5 million handsets in the first quarter of this year due to rush orders for entry-level to mid-range handsets from LG Electronics (LGE), according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report.
With orders on hands extending to May, Arima is likely to see its handset shipments increase to three million units in the second quarter, the paper indicated. Arima shipped 1.51 million handsets generating revenues of NT$2.36 billion (US$69 million) in the first two months of this year, EDN quoted the company as saying.
