Motorola Speakers Showcase Public Safety Communications Expertise on 15 Panels at IWCE

Motorola Subject Matter Experts Discuss Best Practices, Solutions and Strategies for Project 25, Spectrum, Standards and Other Key Industry Topics

LAS VEGAS – March 16, 2009 – Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) will be well represented this week at the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) with experts on 15 panels discussing key public safety topics including narrowbanding, mesh networks, Project 25 Phase 2 TDMA and TV White Space.

The slate of speakers highlights Motorola’s public safety communications’ expertise and is helping to drive a significant presence at IWCE. Motorola is also launching several new products and solutions at IWCE (Booth #1001) that showcase a broad portfolio for public safety and professional and commercial communications.

Motorola’s leadership and innovation in wireless and broadband communications for public safety will be fully on display at IWCE with a lineup of speakers and panelists throughout the show:

Monday, March 16:
1 to 5 p.m.: Narrowbanding 101; Al Ittner, Motorola senior manager, spectrum and regulatory strategy, and president, Land Mobile Communications Council; discussing technical aspects of narrowbanding.
.Tuesday, March 17:
8 a.m. to noon: Mesh Networks 101; Mark Hafferty, Motorola staff technical training instructor; providing basic understanding of mesh networks, its uses and suitability for some major applications.
8 a.m. to noon: Project 25 101: The Basics; Larry Nyberg, Motorola standards strategy director; reviewing P25 features and functions, procuring standardized systems and introducing new technologies.

Wednesday, March 18:

Thursday, March 19:

1 to 2:30 p.m.: TETRA and P25: An Open Discussion; Chuck Jackson, Motorola vice president and director, system operations; discussing how TETRA and P25 differ, are similar and how organizations can decide what is best for its needs.

Friday, March 20:

10 to 11 a.m.: Best Practices for Coordinating Licenses for New Narrow Band Technologies; David Eierman, Motorola principal staff engineer; updating progress of 90.187 rewrite, frequency coordination of 6.25 kHz frequencies and movements to acquire some 900 MHz spectrum.
11:10 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.: Licensed vs. Unlicensed – TV White Space Opportunities; Stu Overby, Motorola senior director, global spectrum strategy; summarizing FCC rules, discussing how incumbent land mobile operations, television and wireless microphones are protected and addressing potential broadband TV White Space opportunities.

Motorola Innovation on Display at IWCE (Booth #1001)

Motorola’s public safety portfolio is expanding this week with the launch at IWCE of a single site Project 25 (P25) voice system, a portable radio battery reader and a dual-unit charger for Motorola’s APX™ multi-band portable radio, enhanced mobile computing features and a resource location solution.

Motorola is adding to its proven and cost-effective Wireless Broadband portfolio with the Fixed Point-to-Point (PTP) 49600 series wireless Ethernet bridge and the Fixed Point-to-Multipoint (PMP) 49400 series wireless network access solution.

Motorola is also announcing new features - Capacity Plus single-site trunking and IP Site Connect - for its MOTORBO™ digital two-way radio system and the launch of CP185, its newest Commercial Portable Two-Way Radio.

In another announcement highlighted this week at IWCE, the Government of Quebec awarded Motorola a five-year service agreement to Motorola Services in Canada for the maintenance of the Réseau national intégré de radiocommunication (RENIR). The RENIR network consists of three zones and 130 sites with multiple dispatch operations centers providing communications to the Province of Québec public safety and public services organizations.
