Sprint Nextel Demonstrates Rapid Deployment Solutions for Emergency Response

WHAT: The 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City and tornadoes throughout the Midwest have raised awareness to the need for more strategic emergency preparedness and response. First responders from agencies throughout Oklahoma will witness and participate in a demonstration of deployment of communications and other infrastructure for catastrophic events. State and local agencies have signed up to participate in the Sprint Emergency Response Team’s (ERT) live, over-the-air tactical exercise designed to address:
Catastrophic incident response;
Emergency preparedness and response;
Disaster Recovery;
Rapid deployment of IP and wireless communications systems; and
Public safety access to real-time information
The Sprint ERT is a unique group within Sprint that provides wireless telecommunications equipment, infrastructure and operations support to federal, state/local public safety, law enforcement, military and private sector entities when it matters most. These services can be deployed during declared emergencies, agency-specific events, field training exercises and National Special Security Events.
