Vodafone confirms 50 new store openings
Vodafone pushes for improved customer service by funding retail NVQ training programme
Vodafone has confirmed the locations of 50 new stores in the UK with 40 already open for business in a drive to increase revenue.
Vodafone has said the new stores will create 200 new retail jobs and are part of a plan to drive revenue and improve customer service. The remaining 10 stores will be open in the coming weeks
The 50 new stores take Vodafone’s store count up to 400. Tom Devine, director of sales for Vodafone UK, says: ‘In August we outlined plans to increase the number of stores to give customers more opportunity to get face-to-face help.’
He continued: ‘This could be about anything from which handset is right for them, to receiving advice on the latest in mobile broadband technology such as the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 with built-in mobile broadband, or help with technical set up or a bill.’
The new stores are in a mixture of locations including big cities like Manchester and London, as well as market towns such as Walton-on-Thames and Yate.
As part of push for improved customer service, Vodafone is putting more cash into training up existing staff. In March, Vodafone launched a NVQ retail training programme which is open to every existing retail employee and paid for by Vodafone. To date over 1250 employees have signed up. There are six levels, which together equate to 15 GCSE and 4 A-Levels.
