AT&T Accepting Applications for 2009 Big Mobile On Campus Challenge

Second Annual Contest to Award one $10,000 Scholarship for the Most Innovative & Creative Mobile College Application

AT&T* today announced its second annual Big Mobile On Campus Challenge, a national higher education contest for mobile application development. The contest recognizes innovative and creative mobile applications that enhance academic performance, build campus community and help to improve campus operations.

The Big Mobile on Campus Challenge is open to all full-time students and full- or part-time staff at higher education institutions, accredited or degree issuing colleges or universities in the continental United States. Entrants must be 18 years old or older at the time of entry and legal residents of the continental U.S. Individual and team entries of no more than four (4) persons will be accepted.

"College students nowadays live their life on the go. Mobility and instant access to information are vital to the success of the everyday student," said Bill Archer, chief marketing officer for AT&T Business Solutions. "This is our second annual Big Mobile on Campus Challenge. The response we received last year exceeded expectations, and we expect the same this year. We look forward to receiving ideas for the next generation of great mobile applications."

The contest opens on April 1, 2009, and entries will be accepted until September 30, 2009. The Big Mobile on Campus Challenge seeks applications in three categories: mobile learning, mobile identity and student system integration. AT&T will choose three finalists in the three categories and then pick the top three overall winners.

The grand prize Winner(s) will be announced in October to receive one $10,000 scholarship — given to an individual or divided among the team members who developed the application — at the EduCause Annual Conference Nov. 3-6, 2009, in Denver, Colorado.

If a staff member wins the award as an individual or is on the grand prize winning team, she or he will receive cash compensation equivalent to the prize allocated. The winner(s) will also receive a mobile device of choice for each entrant and a trip to EduCause. The two runners-up — either as an individual or team — will receive a $5,000 scholarship and mobile device of choice for each entrant.

No purchase necessary. Contest rules, application forms, and further details on the Big Mobile on Campus Challenge can be found at www.att.com/higherEDcontest.
