LG in the 1 st quarter 2009: sales growth despite global crisis

South Korean company LG Electronics today reported its unaudited financial and operating performance for the first quarter of this year, which for us ended March 31, 2009. According to the data, total sales of LG Electronics, including all its subsidiaries, in the 1 st quarter amounted to (in the Adjustment of the South Korean won into U.S. dollars) - $ 9.12 billion, a 14% higher than during the same period last year. Operating profit for the period amounted to $ 324 million, with margins of 3.5%, which is 2.8% higher than last year.

Mobile unit (Mobile Communications Company) LG Electronics completed the first quarter sales of $ 3.02 billion, which is 16.8% above the same period last year. Consequently, operating profit unit was $ 181 million, with margins of 6%. However, the company noted that sales of mobile phone companies have reached an amount of $ 2.78 billion representing 22.6% growth compared to last year. Operating profit from the sales of mobile phones was $ 187 million, with margins 6.7%.
