Nokia cuts 450 jobs in mobile services

It will move existing games services over to the Ovi portal

Nokia is cutting 450 more jobs by reducing investment in creating new services, in a bid to further reduce costs.

The manufacturer plans to streamline its mobile services platforms and migrate its existing games services over to its Ovi applications portal as part of the move.

All Nokia’s mobile games will now become available through the Ovi Store, as well as its existing channels. Nokia is hoping this will spur opportunities for game developers.

The manufacturer, which has so far slashed 3,000 jobs across the business, said the 450 job cuts would also involve the internal IT unit and industry collaboration activities.
