Nokia in the first quarter of 2009: a reduction in almost all positions

The Finnish company Nokia has published data on its financial performance in the first quarter of this year, whose main figures are as follows:

• Net sales amounted to 9.3 billion euro, which is 27% lower compared to the year 2008.
• Net sales of units of mobile phones and services amounted to 6.2 billion euro, which is 33% lower compared to the year 2008. In the 4 th quarter of decline was 24% compared to the same period last year.
• Net sales of units of services and programs of 150 million euro and the resulting 79% increase compared to last year and 4 per cent drop compared with the previous quarter.
• Estimated volume of all mobile phones in the world amounted to 255 million, of which 93.2 million shipped to the company Nokia. However, for the entire industry is the decline was 14% for the Finnish manufacturer - 19% compared to the year 2008. In comparison with the 4 th quarter of 2008, the supply of Nokia fell 18%, while the world's recorded 16% decline.

• Sales of Nokia 5800 XpressMusic was 2.6 million units for a total of over 3 million, beginning with the launch of sales in November 2008.
• Estimated share of market for Nokia in the first quarter of 2009 was 37%, while in early 2008 it was 39%, although in comparison with the previous, it remained the same.
• Average selling price for the mobile phone has fallen to 65 euro from 71 euro for the 4 th quarter of 2008.
• Gross margin, units of mobile phones and services in comparison with the previous quarter, maintained the same level - 33.8%.
• Net sales of NAVTEQ fell from 205 million euro to 132 million, compared with the previous quarter (36% drop).
• Net sales of Nokia Siemens Networks unit fell by 12% and amounted to 3 billion euro in comparison with same period last year, compared with the previous quarter also marked 31% decline.
• Cash flow to current operating activities amounted to 276 million euro.
• Total cash and other liquid assets at the end of the first quarter of 2009 amounted to 8.1 billion euro.
