S60 and the Symbian Foundation – looking forward

As announced in June 2008, Symbian OS and S60 software assets have become a unified platform under the banner of the Symbian Foundation, which will allow community-driven development and focus marketing and discussion around the software.

S60.com web site will be closed down gradually by the end of June 2009 as a natural step within the Symbian OS and S60 software transition into a unified platform and Symbian Foundation web site development process. Registration to S60.com was closed today, as well as the registration to the Ambassador program.

End-user contributions to S60.com content and S60 community have been extremely valuable part of S60 ecosystem development and we want to thank all the people who have provided their input for S60 community during the past years. We would also like to thank all the S60 Ambassadors who have made the program successful with their passion and enthusiasm for S60 products and services.

Information on Symbian Foundation can be found at www.symbian.org. Those interested to join the discussion please visit blog.symbian.org . Symbian Foundation beta site will go public during this spring and will start providing services and collaboration opportunities for visitors. S60.com visitors are encouraged to explore the beta site when it goes public and send their feedback.

There are also other services offered by Nokia that welcome the participation and contributions of all mobile enthusiasts. We would like to encourage you to explore Nokia Beta Labs, Nokia Pilots, and My Nokia.
