BH Telecom a step closer to Next Generation Network
End users can enjoy new “Triple play” services enabled by Nokia Siemens Networks
Bosnia and Herzegovina’s biggest operator of mobile and fixed networks, BH Telecom, can now offer its subscribers a broad spectrum of new next generation services including fast Internet, Voice over IP and IPTV while retaining the simplicity of its network and keeping costs in check. By implementing Nokia Siemens Networks switching and broadband access solutions to optimize its legacy assets, BH Telecom is moving towards an all-IP network of the future.
“We have commenced our evolution to a Next Generation Network in the best possible way – offering advanced end-user services without disrupting our current voice business,” said Nedzad Residbegovic, General Manager of BH Telecom. “Nokia Siemens Networks’ solution enables us to keep pace with industry standards while keeping our network simple and operating expenses in check. We intend to maintain them as our strategic supplier, paving the way for our future migration to an all-IP environment.”
Nokia Siemens Networks is providing efficient call switching and broadband access, and enabling “Triple play” services (Fast Internet, IPTV and VoIP services) for BH Telecom subscribers across the whole network. The solution consists of the softswitch (hiE9200), Media Gateway, Multi Service Access Nodes (MSAN) along with the network management system and allows the operator to retain full control of its traditional voice business. At the same time, BH Telecom has begun to enjoy the benefits of the cost-efficient IP core equipment, which helps simplify the network and improve consumer experience, and to migrate to an all-IP based infrastructure in the future.
In addition, the Nokia Siemens Networks Services team is ensuring a smooth and speedy network transition, handling the implementation as well as software maintenance to keep network quality at its highest possible level.
“While next generation networks are the new buzzword, there is no denying that today’s killer application continues to remain voice,” said Dino Miljkovic, in charge of Nokia Siemens Networks relations with BH Telecom. “We bring a unique value proposition that first and foremost provides long-term support for an operator’s current installed base. Through a simple softswitch solution that does not complicate the existing network, we enable operators to take the leap to IP-based services along a highly cost efficient route to NGN.”
With this new deal, Nokia Siemens Networks builds upon a 15 years’ relationship with BH Telecom as a highly reliable solution provider.
