New Satio: ultimate multimedia experience, running upcoming Symbian Foundation OS
On May 28, 2009, Sony Ericsson announced the new Satio - first introduced as the concept "Idou" – delivering the ultimate mobile phone multimedia experience. The touchscreen Satio runs S60 v5.0 Symbian™ OS (the basis for the upcoming Symbian Foundation platform) and features a 3.5 inch 16:9 widescreen display and 12.1 megapixel camera.

First introduced as "Idou" at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, Satio is a touchscreen phone providing access to all your media via the unique full-touch media menu, standby panels and music player.

Satio is feature-packed with HSDPA network support, Wi-Fi, aGPS, an accelerometer, a touchscreen with on-screen QWERTY keyboard, a 640x360 pixel 3.5 inch display in 16:9 widescreen format, WebKit browser, 128MB internal memory and external memory using SanDisk microSD™.
Satio and Satio a will be available in selected markets during Q4 2009.
Symbian Foundation and S60 v5.0
Sony Ericsson fully supports the creation of the Symbian Foundation and is one of the organization's founding members. Sony Ericsson strongly believes in the benefits of open source as a means of developing software for mobile phones and driving innovation.
Sony Ericsson's Satio is based on S60 v5.0, which also is the basis for the upcoming Symbian Foundation platform, so we suggest that you use the Symbian/S60 5th edition SDK for application development.
Members of the Symbian Foundation have the right to license the Symbian Foundation platform, royalty free and without source code fees.
OpenGL ES 2.0 support
Satio has OpenGL ES 2.0 implemented.
Project Capuchin
Sony Ericsson's Project Capuchin API is also supported by Satio. Project Capuchin is a Java API defining a bridge between Java™ ME and Adobe® Flash Lite™ technologies. This API makes it possible to use Flash Lite as the front end and Java ME as the back end of applications.
