Smart Communications Tops New ABI Research Mobile International Financial Remittance Vendor Matrix Ranking

Smart Communications and Mi-Pay have been ranked first and second at the top of the latest Vendor Matrix released by ABI Research.

Globe Telecom claimed the third spot in the company’s new evaluation of worldwide
mobile international remittance vendors.

“These three companies have the most momentum in the space,” says senior analyst Mark Beccue. “Smart Communications has been the most successful player to date, enabling more than a million Filipinos working overseas to send $110 million home each month. The company has leveraged that experience to power Etisalat’s international remittance solution.

Mi-Pay is an experienced provider of prepaid-top up for MNOs in Europe and the Middle East and has logically extended its capabilities into mobile international remittance for its top-up customers.

Globe, which also has a successful program in the Philippines, has sold its interexchange hub services to several Asian operators.

The Vendor Matrix is an analytical tool developed by ABI Research to provide a clear understanding of vendors’ positions in specific markets. Vendors are assessed on the important parameters of “innovation” and “implementation” across several criteria unique to each vendor matrix.

For this particular matrix, under "innovation," ABI Research examined the functionality and security of their SMS, mobile Internet and mobile applications.

Under "implementation," ABI Research scrutinized the following criteria: the vendors’ bank and MNO relationships, the breadth of their solutions, their partnerships, supporting products and services as well as any complementary products on offer, and their overall financial and organizational health
