Statement from Motorola Co-CEO Greg Brown on the White House Report on U.S. Cybersecurity
WASHINGTON, DC. -- Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) Co-CEO Greg Brown issued the following statement regarding the White House report outlining a strategic framework for cybersecurity. As a member of the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC), Greg Brown recently met with President Obama to discuss recommendations for the nation’s ability to respond to growing and complex cybersecurity threats.
“Over the past year, cyber exploitation activity has grown more sophisticated, more targeted and more serious. Information infrastructure increasingly is being targeted for exploitation and potentially for disruption or destruction. Today’s White House report is an important step in defending the U.S. from the increasing number of cyber attacks,” said Brown, who attended today’s press conference announcing the release of the report, which identifies increased collaboration and innovation as key elements in increasing the nation’s level of cybersecurity.
“It is critical that effective, hands-on public-private partnerships are developed. This is a challenge that will require the collaborative efforts of businesses and government to be successful,” Brown said. “As a global leader in providing secure mission-critical communications technologies, Motorola knows first-hand about the importance of detecting and preventing threats and the ability to respond immediately to emergencies.”
