Sussex Police Award TETRA Terminals Upgrade to Motorola
Motorola awarded contract to refresh mobile and handheld TETRA terminals at Sussex Police.
MUNICH, Germany – Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT), world leader in the development and deployment of TETRA communication solutions, announced at TETRA World Congress that it had won a tender to supply Sussex Police with mobile and handheld TETRA terminals.
Motorola will supply its MTM800E mobile and MTP850 handheld TETRA terminals, both of which have easy to use mobile phone style interface as well as new safety features and improved coverage and receiver sensitivity. Motorola’s rugged, intuitive products undergo a series of rigorous tests to ensure superior quality and reliability under the most extreme conditions.
Motorola will also provide its Integrated Terminal Management (iTM) Service to allow the Officers to efficiently manage the software and configuration of every radio terminal from a remote central location. The remote programming system improves the speed and reliability with which software updates can be carried out, improving officer safety and asset tracking.
“We are delighted that the Sussex Police Authority has chosen Motorola to upgrade its TETRA terminals“, said Manuel Torres, vice president and general manager, Government Business, Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions, EMEA. “As the industry leader in critical communication devices, Motorola’s products have a reputation for not only being reliable, durable, and easy to use, but they will allow the force to implement significant cost savings over the course of the years.”
“We chose Motorola to refresh our devices due to their experience within the TETRA landscape and because their products not only allow officers to work efficiently but the iTM allows us to reduce the time taken to upgrade terminal software,” explained, Jim Flooks, Sussex Police Project Manager. “We see this move as ensuring an efficient, cost-effective and secure communications network for the future.”
Motorola’s complete portfolio of TETRA solutions involves infrastructure, terminals, applications and services that are now in use in over 90 countries worldwide. Motorola has a long history of innovation in the two-way radio industry that stretches back to 1938 with the introduction of the Police Cruiser Radio Receiver and has helped maintain its position at the forefront of TETRA.
