AT&T Tees Off the AT&T National with 2,500 Calling Card Donation and Cell Phone for Soldiers Drive to Benefit Armed Forces
Fans to Stay Connected Through Wireless Caddies, Calling Stations and Text Alerts.
AT&T* is teeing off the annual AT&T National Golf Tournament with new ways for golf fans to get in on the action, keep connected and honor the men and women in the Armed Forces while benefiting the Tiger Woods Foundation.
At the AT&T National Golf Tournament, which runs from Tuesday, June 30 through Sunday, July 5 at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md., AT&T is donating more than 2,500 prepaid cards to the Operation Care Package Tent.
AT&T will also be distributing 20,000 Cell Phones for Soldiers recycling bags. The recycling bags, for used cell phones, will be available at various locations throughout the event and, on Wednesday, July 1, AT&T will be hosting a Wounded Warrior luncheon for 50 soldiers that will be treated to a VIP visit.
"This amazing golf tournament not only generates millions for local charities and more than 50 youth organizations through the Tiger Woods Foundation but serves as a week-long salute to the brave men and women of our Armed Forces," said Tim McGhee, executive director, AT&T Corporate Sponsorships. “We are proud of our sponsorship, our long history of supporting our troops and the many ways we will be able to keep attendees connected."
In addition, visitors to the AT&T National Golf Tournament will have access to:
Wireless Caddies from AT&T: Fans will be able to access real-time tournament details such as player locations, player bios, tournament trivia and a leaderboard with live updates on more than 160 BlackBerry® Bold devices available on-site from AT&T. The devices can be checked out at the distribution tent located at the main entrance.
AT&T Digital Clubhouse: Located on the 11th Fairway, visitors will be able to stop in to test the distance of their drive and participate in a GolfTEC golf swing analysis, which will be recorded on site and available for review at http://fanzone.att.net. This area will also feature demonstrations of AT&T products and services.
AT&T Calling Area: A total of four phones will be available for tournament attendees to place calls once on site in the Front Nine Grove.
AT&T Clubhouse Alerts: In addition, fans can text the word "GOLF" to 21234 from any wireless device (standard text messages rates apply) to receive updates from the AT&T National.
AT&T is a proud sponsor of the third annual AT&T National and has supported the Tiger Woods Foundation for the last six years. Last year, the event generated more than $2 million for local charities and the Tiger Woods Foundation selected more than 51 youth organizations to benefit from that support.
