AT&T Unveils Two New High Tech Stores in the Bronx

BRONX, N.Y., -- To address growing demand for advanced wireless data products and services, AT&T* announced the opening of two new retail stores in the Soundview and Castlehill sections of the Bronx. The stores are the latest additions to AT&T's bilingual retail portfolio in New York; staffed with representatives who are fluent in both English and Spanish to service customers in their language of choice. AT&T has more than 35 bilingual wireless retail locations across metro New York and northern New Jersey.

"By offering new multiple bilingual locations, AT&T is meeting the needs of the community in an appropriate and responsible way," said Council Member Annabel Palma of the 18th District, covering Parkchester, Castle Hill and Soundview neighborhoods.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony with Greene and Palma is scheduled for June 4 at 10 a.m. at the new AT&T wireless store in Bruckner Plaza at 1949 Turnbull Avenue.

"The design of our new stores redefine the wireless sales experience by showcasing our extensive portfolio of advanced wireless voice and data products in an innovative way that lets customers touch and feel today's exciting new services," said Tom DeVito, Vice President and General Manager of AT&T in New York and New Jersey.

The stores, located at 1559 Westchester Avenue in Castlehill and at the Bruckner Plaza (1949 Turnbull Avenue) in Soundview, have a state-of-the-art, hands-on layout to engage customers with a "try before you buy" experience. Trained sales consultants, many of whom are bilingual, can provide demonstrations of a large range of wireless products including quick messaging devices like the LG Xenon (TM) seen on Justin Timberlake's popular MTV series "The Phone" and Smartphones like the Samsung Jack (TM) with Windows Mobile 6.1. Shoppers can test out a wide variety of advanced wireless data applications like AT&T Navigator which is compatible with many AT&T mobile phones and eliminates the need for a separate GPS device. Parents can try out Family Map, a new application that helps busy families keep track of each other's whereabouts from their AT&T handset or home computer.

Customers are invited to stop by check out AT&T's large selection of world phones and service offerings that include competitive national and international long distance calling plans, free mobile to mobile, and AT&T's signature Rollover offer. In addition, AT&T has an exciting lineup of prepaid calling plans including the just launched $3 day a day offer which doesn't require a contract. The Bruckner Plaza store is led by Albania Almonte and has a team of nine trained consultants serving customers Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

The Westchester Avenue store is managed by industry veteran Aileen Betances and has a staff of nine employees who are trained to assist customers -- both business and consumer -- with purchasing decisions, customer service and technical support. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
