Kodak will help in the exploration of the Moon

According to the company Kodak, technology, developed by the company, will play a key role in the exploration of our solar system. Images from the probe by means of CCD matrix KODAK, will be used to create a complete atlas of relief and the resources of the Moon, which will help in the development of manned lunar station.

Lunar orbiting probe (LRO) will be the first launching of the program, NASA «Vision of space exploration», developed to enhance human capabilities in the solar system, first by returning to the moon, and in the future - to Mars and beyond. The first phase of this program probe LRO will create maps of the lunar surface of the high resolution and to identify the natural resources (such as water) with a surface or shallow bedding. These data in the future be used by astronauts to better assess the radiation situation. The key success of this mission are three cameras, developed by Malin Space Science Systems, on the basis of CCD matrix KODAK, which will reportedly receive differing unprecedented clarity and detail of the image the Moon.

Wide-angle camera orbiting probe will provide panoramic views of the lunar surface with a resolution of 100 m based on the matrix KODAK KAI-1001 - odnomegapikselnogo device that has a high sensitivity and wide dynamic range - this camera will be used seven different spectral bands to determine the spectral handwritings minerals that may occur on the lunar surface.

Two narrow-angle camera will probe the lunar surface to obtain images with high resolution - 0.5 meters per pixel - using matrix KODAK KLI-5001. This will provide the same high level of detail, as well as at satellite imagery of the Earth's high resolution available on the market today. As the primary task of mapping the lunar surface, probe and LRO will fly over the ship Apollo landing sites, allowing these cells to make high-resolution lunar orbit with the first pictures of artifacts Apollo era.
