Windows 7 appears in the Russian market on Oct. 22, 2009
Microsoft Corporation announced that the localized version of its operating system Windows 7 will be in Russia on Oct. 22, 2009 simultaneously with the global release. Microsoft also announced the launch of special conditions of the transition to Windows 7 for Russian users of the program Windows 7 Upgrade Option.
Since June 26, 2009, buyers of certain models of PCs with preinstalled operating system Windows Vista Home Premium, Business or Ultimate will be able to go to the relevant editor Windows 7, immediately after its entry into the Russian market without having to pay a license for the new operating system. Effect of special conditions will last until 31 January 2010.
Program Windows 7 Upgrade Option is held jointly with Russian and international manufacturers of personal computers, which are independently defined as the amount of its participation in the program, and specific models of the PC product line, are subject to special conditions for the transition to Windows 7. Despite the fact that Microsoft did not include a fee for a license for the operating system upgrade program, the user should bear in mind that the PC vendor may impose a fee that covers the logistics and transaction costs, such as delivery of a disk with the OS.
