NTT DOCOMO at EXPO COMM WIRELESS JAPAN 2009

NTT DOCOMO will participate in EXPO COMM WIRELESS JAPAN 2009, an exhibition of wireless/mobile business and technologies, at the Tokyo Big Sight convention center from July 22 to July 24. The DOCOMO booth, organized under the theme of "Change and Challenge," will exhibit and demonstrate high-potential services, R&D and advanced technologies, including for extra-high-speed mobile telecommunication networks.

DOCOMO Exhibits
Voice-activated ticket booking – demonstration
•Transport-ticketing service with interactive system for dialogue-based commands ("I want to go to ...", etc.).
•User's closest station is identified via GPS for searching routes to other destinations.
•Restaurant-search application for trial use downloadable at trial.nttdocomo.co.jp (Japanese only) from July 21.
Mail agent – touch and try
•Mobile phone automatically detects user's status ("in meeting," "driving," etc.) and nature of incoming mails to create automatic replies.
Femtocell – demonstration
•Music streamed via home/office femtocell base transceiver station (BTS) (launch planned in fall 2009)
•Femtocell BTS recognizes phone's presence in home's wireless network.
Augmented-reality search and navigation – touch and try
•Wireless links to location-specific information (shops, stations, hotels, etc.) that phone detects and superimposes as markers on phone's video screen as user walks through (or navigates to) venue.
•Dedicated app for trial use in HT-03A phone downloadable at trial.nttdocomo.co.jp (Japanese) from July 22.
Mobile assistant with voice recognition – demonstration
•On-screen virtual assistant interacts verbally with user to provide guidance and services.
•User's behavior, etc. are analyzed by the system to generate predictive responses.
Remote touch media – touch and try
•System enables users to feel the touch and physical pressure of remote items, a new form of communication.
