200 million Symbian-smartphones for a year and a half?

Quickoffice company officially stated that it is ready to compete with the new mobile office suite from Microsoft, which will be installed on the Symbian-smartphones. Recall that in the recently concluded alliance Nokia and Microsoft promised to release Microsoft Office Mobile for Symbian in the next 18 months. However, Quickoffice alleges that its product will be installed on 200 million smartphones even before the decision to get Microsoft to the market. That is, perhaps, is the most interesting information in the statement of the company's ambitious, since the data reveals that in the coming year and a half, the market will be approximately 200 million Symbian-smartphones. This, of course, an impressive figure, it is not entirely clear what it is supported.

It should be noted that in 2008, according to Gartner, has sold 72 million Symbian-smartphones, and for the first half of 2009 - 38.83 million smartphones based on this platform. Market share of the OS - just over 50%. According to the same company Gartner, on the basis of 2009 the volume of shipments of smartphones and communicators grow by 27%, thus only for the second half of this year will be sold around 99 million smartphones, of which about 45.5 million - based on Symbian. With regard to 2010, during the same period, according to analysts' estimates, the market of smartphones will grow at 30%. This gives another order of 114.72 million Symbian-smartphones, if the market share of the OS will remain at around 50%. Thus, the volume of Symbian-smartphones over the next 18 months to reach 160.27 million copies.

Easy to see that the forecast for Quickoffice 40 million vehicles optimistic than the analysts' conclusions. How, in fact, will develop Symbian - time will show. However, except for smart phones based on this operating system, the company Nokia is preparing another, at least one interesting product - a new Internet tablet, based on Maemo - Nokia RX-51, also known as the Nokia N900 or Rover. Our site already has a review of this device.
