FIH losses continue in 1H09

Foxconn International Holdings (FIH), the Hong Kong-listed handset subsidiary of Taiwan-based Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry), has posted a net loss of US$17.88 million on revenues of US$3.16 billion for the first half of 2009, according to a company statement.

A sharp decline in handset orders from major clients and an asset impairment of US$28.63 million at its subsidiary, Chi Mei Communication Systems (CMCS) contributed to the first-half losses, the company said.

This was FIH's second straight half-yearly losses. The company made a net loss of US$21.1 million in the second half of 2008 after posting net profits of US$142 million in the first half of 2008, company data showed.
