Taiwan market: CHT to start building up LTE networks in 2011

Taiwan-based carrier Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) is currently experimenting with LTE technology and plans to start building up its LTE network in 2011, according to chairman Shyue-Ching Lu.

The number of mobile broadband subscribers in Taiwan are expected to grow from 2.77 million in 2008 to 19.94 million in 2014, making mobile broadband service a major growth driver for telecom companies on the island in the future, Lu noted.
