In 2009, AT&T is investing between $17 billion and $18 billion nationally in total capital expenditures, about two-thirds of which is devoted to network enhancements and expansions. The investment in its 3G wireless broadband network is part of AT&T's ongoing effort to build the broadband networks - both wireless and wired - that will create jobs and fuel economic growth and enable its customers to access the content, applications and services that matter most to them.
The AT&T 3G network - the nation's fastest 3G network, according to data compiled by leading independent wireless research firms - is now available in more than 350 U.S. major metropolitan areas.
