Engage with Satio™ and Sony Ericsson at SEE
Symbian Foundation and Sony Ericsson.
Sony Ericsson is one of the Symbian Foundation’s founding members. We strongly believe in the benefits of open source as a means of developing software for mobile phones and driving innovation. With the launch of our first Symbian Foundation phone, Satio™, 2009 marks a significant new stage in Sony Ericsson’s long association with Symbian and Symbian developers.
Sony Ericsson at SEE 2009
Sony Ericsson will be showing the new Satio™ phone, running speed meeting sessions for developers and presenting a speaker session. At our booth we will have lots of demonstrations, a competition and Developer World staff on hand to discuss opportunities for Symbian developers to earn money with Sony Ericsson’s channels to market.
Get up close to Satio™
We will be will be showing off the new ‘Communication Entertainment’ phone, Satio™, our first phone based on the Symbian Foundation platform. Satio™ is a multimedia powerhouse, with a 12.1 Megapixel camera, a large 3.5 inch 16:9 format screen and access to PlayNow™ arena movies.
Satio™ is based on Symbian S60 5th Edition and the standard SDK from Symbian can be used to develop native applications. Satio runs S60 5th Edition apps unmodified, and therefore represents a significant new market for developers. Our one-stop content store, PlayNow arena, has been open for submission of games and apps for Satio™ since it was launched in July.
Satio also supports OpenGL® ES 2.0 and we’ll show off not just the amazing gaming capability, but also how the graphics acceleration can make for an easier and more involved user experience.
At the Sony Ericsson booth we will be presenting a range of cool applications and offering the chance to get hands-on with Satio™.

Speed Meetings – show us your applications
We will once again be running our ‘speed meetings’ – a chance for developers to meet with Sony Ericsson, identify opportunities and discuss requirements. Each meeting lasts 15 minutes and we manage the time slots strictly, so please think about your presentation and questions ahead of time. Places are limited, so please come to our booth early to book a slot.
