Huawei sells 60 million mobile broadband cards and modules

China-based Huawei Technologies has sold a total of 60 million units of mobile broadband data cards and built-in modules to 315 telecom carriers, including Vodafone, Telefonica, T-Mobile, Orange, Hutchison and Emobile, across 133 countries, according to the company.

Huawei's mobile broadband CPE products currently account for a global market share of 55%, an increase of 17pp from a year ago, according to data compiled by ABI Research.

However, Huawei is shifting its focus from external data cards to built-in modules for netbooks and notebooks, according to industry sources in Taiwan.

Sales of mobile broadband modules for notebooks and netbooks are expected to top 230 million units in 2013 compared to 13.8 million units projected for 2009, the sources cited ABI Research data as saying.
