Light Peak: data transfer up to 100 Gbit / s

Company Intel develops new technology high-speed data. Vice-president and general manager, Intel Architecture Group Dadi Perlmutter (Dadi Perlmutter) technology has demonstrated high-speed data transmission through the fiber Light Peak.

It will bring together notebooks, displays high-definition cameras, multimedia players, docking stations and reservoirs at a speed of data exchange 10 Gb / s, with the possibility of its increase in 10 years to 100 Gbps. At a speed of 10 Gb / s full-length movie in standard high-definition video can be transferred from one device to another in less than 30 seconds. It is planned that the technology will be ready for mass production in 2010.


Perlmutter also announced the Intel Anti-Theft (Intel AT) version 2.03. This intelligent technology that works at the hardware level, disables the laptop and blocks unauthorized access to information on it in case of loss or theft. Working with independent software vendors to ensure information security, Intel is going through this technology to provide a high level of data security and protect users from the consequences arising from the theft of a computer.
