Motorola and Swisscom Introduce Next-Generation Voice-enabled VDSL2 Gateways

Motorola’s 7300 Series VDSL2 voice gateways accelerate the delivery of personal media experiences to Swisscom customers.

Zurich, Switzerland – Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) announced that Swisscom, the leading telecommunications and broadband service provider in Switzerland, has selected Motorola’s Netopia® 7300 series of ultra-broadband VDSL2 gateways to deliver advanced multi-play services including high-speed data, voice-over-IP, High-Definition IPTV, and home networking to its subscribers.

Swisscom customers will be provided with a Motorola 7340-44 VDSL2 gateway as part of a basic package supporting voice and data, or they can upgrade to a Motorola 7347-44 VDSL2 gateway should they choose from a variety of multi-service packages offered by Swisscom, including for example IPTV.

“Motorola’s VDSL2 gateways are designed specifically to support ultra-broadband services such as IPTV, video and gaming,” said Andreas Martschitsch, head of in-home connectivity, Swisscom. “The advanced routing features of Motorola’s VDSL2 gateways, the support for TR-069 to enable remote management, and advanced telephony features, allow us to deliver a first-class broadband to our subscribers and open up a world of enhanced features and applications that can be quickly and easily delivered.”

The 7347-44 is designed for homes where multiple advanced services are to be delivered, and offers user convenience and mobility with support for up to two voice lines, four 10/100Base-T Ethernet ports, an 802.11b/g Wi-Fi® access point, and a built-in stateful firewall for secure home networking.

The 7340-44 is designed for single user households and offers support for one voice line and two10/100Base-T Ethernet ports.

A portion of revenue on this contract was recognized in previous quarters.
