Motorola Rolls Out NBBS Service and Device Management Solutions for WiMAX
NBBS leads in comprehensive remote management market and technology solutions, accelerating introduction of wireless services and devices
HORSHAM, Pa. -- Motorola, Inc’s. (NYSE: MOT) Home and Networks Mobility business today announced the rollout of the NBBS remote device management software platform’s WiMAX solution. With the introduction of this new NBBS solution, Motorola has extended its industry leading device and service management platform to serve broadband wireless carriers. NBBS’ WiMAX solution enables carriers to accelerate the introduction of new revenue generating applications and solutions, while reducing operational and support costs.
NBBS is part of Motorola’s overall Service Assurance solutions suite – enhancing Quality of Service (QoS) at the edge of the network. The NBBS WiMAX Solution allows WiMAX network operators to successfully address the challenges of delivering broadband WiMAX services. Through automated service provisioning and comprehensive device management, NBBS enables operators to remotely activate, access, configure, and troubleshoot a full portfolio of fixed and/or mobile WiMAX devices; including CPE, PC Cards and handsets. Furthermore, the platform is architected, so that operators of any size will be able to use a single NBBS system for cost-effective, scalable remote management. The solution is standards-based and compliant with Broadband Forum’s TR-069 and Open Mobile Alliance (OMA-DM) management protocols, ensuring interoperability with WiMAX devices from a variety of vendors.
“Motorola is the worldwide leader in both WiMAX and device management solutions. Our new NBBS WiMAX Solution changes the device management game -- the platform now goes far beyond the activation of new devices; it performs full lifecycle management and allows our customers to manage their customers’ home networks and services,” said Alan Lefkof, corporate vice president and general manager, Broadband Home Gateways and Software, Motorola.
The Motorola NBBS WiMAX Solution will be featured at 4G World in Chicago’s McCormick Place, September 15 -18, 2009, at Motorola’s booth (#501).
