Motorola’s WiMAX Device Partnership Program Offers Operators Full Ecosystem of Tested Devices
Motorola helping ODM’s/OEM’s and operators bring pre-qualified WiMAX devices to global market.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — 4G World Motorola, Inc.’s (NYSE:MOT) Home & Networks Mobility business announced the launch of its WiMAX Device Partnership Program. This service helps device providers qualify their WiMAX products through Motorola’s comprehensive interoperability testing (IOT) laboratories and provides operators with greater access to WiMAX devices. This program works with device vendors and 4G operators to increase future WiMAX growth by offering broader end-to-end solutions to include a range of devices for market compatibility.
The Motorola WiMAX Device Partnership Program, while primarily targeted at ODM’s and OEM’s, is also uniquely positioned to assist operators. Through this partnership, operators will have access to a greater selection of pre-qualified WiMAX devices including netbooks, USB devices, smartphones, mobile internet devices (MID) and VoIP handsets. In addition to enhancing existing WiMAX Forum® certification activities, the program becomes an aggregation point for device manufacturers and operators to accelerate the deployment and adoption of WiMAX in the global market.
Through this service Motorola offers device manufacturers excellent exposure to its existing customer base through various global marketing channels and sponsorship opportunities. Motorola also serves as a key facilitator between the ODM’s/OEM’s and operators ensuring that the devices work properly on the customer’s network. Operators will see a faster time to market and a reduction in operating and implementation costs as devices involved in this partnership are tested prior to purchase.
“The WiMAX Device Partnership Program uniquely helps both our ODM/OEM partners and our operator customers. ODM’s/OEM’s are able to pass their products through full interoperability testing and increase their expertise and confidence in the compatibility of their products in real world environments, while operators are granted access to a far greater device selection,” said Fred Gabbard, vice president, product management, Wireless Networks. “This program utilizes Motorola’s expertise and delivery of ODM/OEM partner products to help grow the opportunities for WiMAX products globally.”
Motorola has a number of award winning, end-to-end WiMAX solutions that address the full scope of operators deployment needs. The Motorola WiMAX solutions portfolio includes access, core, devices, network management and services. Motorola’s best-in-class quality assurance processes, along with a track record of WiMAX commercial deployments worldwide, offer service providers the confidence that they are getting a high-quality, reliable solution.
