Network overhaul brings 50 megabits-per-second broadband to Israel

Nokia Siemens Networks complete implementation of Next Generation Network for leading operator Bezeq.

Israel’s largest operator, Bezeq, is ready to offer new, converged multi-media services such as IPTV and video conferencing thanks to a complete overhaul of its network. Nokia Siemens Networks has partnered Bezeq as the leading vendor in migrating Bezeq’s traditional fixed networks to a converged Next Generation Network (NGN).

“Our company is focused on offering customers an unsurpassed broadband experience and to do that we had to adopt the most advanced technologies and services,” said Yuval Keinan, Bezeq's CTO. “With NGN defined as our main area of future investment, Nokia Siemens Networks’ technical excellence, combined with its local knowledge and installed base, made it an ideal partner for us. We are now able to offer new services thanks to Nokia Siemens Networks fast implementation.”

Nokia Siemens Networks provided Bezeq with Multi Service Access Nodes (MSANs) that are capable of handling both voice and broadband data services on one common platform. This enables the roll out of new advanced services, like High Definition television, video conferencing or remote services, over VDSL2 connections with bandwidths of up to 50Mbps.

As well as the technology to provide a converged NGN, Nokia Siemens Networks also provided Bezeq with advanced network management tools, implementation and hardware and software care services.

“This deal strengthens our overall strategic position in the fixed domain in Israel “, said Eitan Idelson, who heads market operations for Nokia Siemens Networks in the country.” We share Bezeq’s vision of providing modern and customer focused telecommunication services.”
