Nokia Siemens Networks launches SON Plug and Play for 2G, 3G and LTE
The new feature in the Nokia Siemens Networks Self Organizing Networks (SON) Suite improves quality of mobile broadband network rollout and enables faster time to market.
Nokia Siemens Networks is adding to its advanced radio and network management portfolio a new feature for GSM/WCDMA/HSPA+ and LTE: SON Plug and Play. It automatically sets up the right parameters in base station commissioning that will lead to increased network quality and more efficient and faster network rollout as less manual work on site and less site visits are required.
Nokia Siemens Networks SON Plug and Play will simplify the configuration and optimization of networks by increasing automation. The new SON Plug and Play comprises part of the comprehensive Nokia Siemens Networks SON Suite that helps Communication Service Providers increase quality and operational efficiency in mobile networks and decrease operational costs. Consumers will experience faster introduction of new technologies and better network quality.
Nokia Siemens Networks SON Plug and Play will have a positive impact on the network rollout as the first time right ratio will improve due to the right setting of parameters from the beginning. Less additional site visits are needed and thus SON Plug and Play will enable operators faster time to market in expanding their capacity and coverage in existing and new technologies. Combined with the small, lightweight, weatherproof Flexi Multiradio Base Station, which is already easy to install on any numbers of sites, the network rollout can be done faster than ever.
The new Nokia Siemens Networks SON Plug and Play will be available for HSPA/HSPA+ in 4Q 2009 and for GSM and LTE next year.
“The new SON Plug and Play introduces a new level of quality to the network rollout process, making it even simpler and faster,” said Tommi Uitto, Head of Wireless Access Product Management, Radio Access, Nokia Siemens Networks. “It enables base station configuration by just connecting to the transmission. The Flexi Multiradio Base Station automatically connects itself to the network with less human interaction.”
The SON Suite is the essential part of Nokia Siemens Networks Single RAN solution. At the core of the Nokia Siemens Networks SON Suite are the market leading Flexi Multiradio Base Station and multi-technology, multi-vendor NetAct network management system. Nokia Siemens Networks SON Suite is in use already now in the company’s live HSPA/HSPA+ radio access networks and will be complemented with the new SON Plug and Play launched today. Nokia Siemens Networks SON provides the basis for smooth, fast and efficient introduction of LTE.
Nokia Siemens Networks will demonstrate SON for LTE at Booth #301at 4G World in Chicago, September 16 -17, 2009.
