Acer has set a goal of shipping 400,000-500,000 own-brand handsets in 2009 and 1.5-2 million units in 2010, industry sources quoted an internal estimate of Acer as indicating.
In addition to cooperating with Taiwan-based carrier Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET), Acer has also reached cooperation agreements with a number of other carriers for bundle sales, including CSL of Hong Kong, SFR and Bouygues of France, and Wind of Italy, said the sources.
Acer is also expected to team up with telecom carrier in North America in 2010, further pushing its handset shipments through channels in the telecom sector, the sources added.
