Both FIH and BYD shifting to focus on China market, says paper
Foxconn International Holdings (FIH) and rival China-based BYD have both shifted their marketing efforts to focus on the China market due to sharp declines in orders from international players, according to a Chinese-language Commercial Times report.
BYD's battery unit is offering its own-brand batteries to China-based while-box handset makers, aiming to help build its brand image among small-scale makers while boosting sales, the paper said.
Meanwhile, FIH has begun cooperating with China-based white-box notebook and netbook makers to jointly explore the massive market in China, with FIH responsible for manufacturing and after-sales maintenance, while white-box vendors will handling product development and marketing.
In addition, FIH has also stepped up cooperation with the Global Mobility Bazaar (GMB) alliance formed by VIA Technologies, offering its motherboards and OEM netbook manufacturing services to GMB members, the paper added.
