Epson and E Ink have submitted a new solution for electronic paper

Seiko Epson Corporation and the company E Ink presented a new, jointly developed display controller S1D13522. The new controller provides high-performance and compact solution for the production of electronic paper technology to support Vizplex from the company E Ink. A new integrated circuit has a powerful core and provides customers with a high level of performance and a variety of additional functions.

Technology of manufacturing of electronic paper display with low power companies Epson and E Ink can now be found in most electronic books. These technologies have become a key factor for rapid market development of such devices and expanding range of mobile applications (electronic books and newspapers, tablet PCs, additional screens laptops, electronic notebooks and pocket dictionaries based on this technology).

The new display controller Epson (code name «ISIS») has 2 megabytes of internal memory and has features that allow significantly reduce the load on the CPU in applications based on electronic paper. With support simultaneous screen updates in several of its parts, chip S1D13522 implements a touch interface with the ability to control touch with your finger or stylus. Functions such as picture-in-picture, rotation, transparency, and hardware cursor, expanding opportunities in the field of perception and work with the display.

The controller will be available for order in January 2010.
