iDriver - iPhone as remote control car
Berlin University is developing in the field of automotive autonomous navigation. On the basis of an already implemented project for autonomous navigation under the name "Spirit of Berlin", which in 2007 successfully took part in the international competition "DARPA Urban Grand Challenge" and went into semi-finals, has been developed to a remote control car using a mobile phone. In this case, as the remote control was used ordinary iPhone. With the program running on the phone through the wireless network WLAN, may control the steering wheel, gas pedal and brake. Thus, there is a direct control over the movement of the car. At the same time with a video camera installed in the cab, transmitted video stream in real time (Live-Stream) to iPhon-y, which makes it possible to show on the phone screen "view from the cockpit for a better assessment of the road situation.
