Opera on deck at the Symbian Exchange & Exposition: Product manager to speak about Opera Widgets strategy

On October 27 and 28, 2009, Opera Software will gather with the greatest minds in the mobile industry at the Symbian Exchange & Exposition (SEE) in London. Opera will exhibit its Opera Mini and Opera Mobile Web browsers running on an array of devices at booth 82. Contributing to the event’s goal of sharing, creating, networking and learning, Opera’s own Mobile Product Manager, Igor Netto, will be addressing SEE attendees on the topic of “How to add value in an open mobile ecosystem”.

The Opera session with Igor Netto runs from 15:15 – 15:45 on Wednesday, October 28, and will be an in-depth discussion of Opera's implementation of the write once, deploy everywhere strategy using mobile widgets. Visitors to Opera’s booth can witness this strategy in practice with several demos of Opera running not only on Symbian products, but also on devices such as the Orange Tabbee and the ARCHOS 5.

“Symbian is an important platform for our mobile products, one that we have long included in our browser strategy. We attend this show annually to learn how to make our products even better and to understand the needs of the industry,” said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. “We are excited to be hosting a speaking session during the show, and Igor Netto’s topic of adding value in an open mobile ecosystem is one that we can teach through numerous examples, including our work with Vodafone and T-Mobile.”

One of Opera’s headlining demos is the Opera Mini 5 beta. This recently launched version of Opera Mini delivers a desktop Web experience to phones, and visitors to Opera booth can try it out for themselves.

Many more Opera demos will also be available, including the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD, the Orange Tabbee and the ARCHOS 5.
