Polytronics 3Q09 pre-tax profits almost double
Protective component maker Polytronics Technology has announced revenues for the third quarter grew 30.9% sequentially to NT$309 million (US$9.55 million), with pre-tax profits jumping 99% to NT$104 million thanks to increased shipments of high-margin products.
Shipments of its SMD polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) resistors used in notebooks continued to grow, and revenues generated from its SLD, ALD and SLR products used in handset lithium batteries increased to NT$38 million in September, compared to around NT$12 million per month in 2008.
Polytronics has developed ultra-low resistance SLR components used in USB 3.0 related products, which are expected to boost the company's future revenues, according to market sources.
The company's revenues are expected to have a 50% on-year growth in the fourth quarter and top NT$900 million in 2009, the sources added.
