Sony Ericsson's new President promises to profit in 2010

Sony Ericsson's new President Bert Nordberg go out hard. "The goal is to show profitability during the next year," he told Dagens Industri. He goes so contrary to the forecasts from a single analytikerkår.

Bert Nordberg says to newspaper Dagens Industri that "swift and decisive action" to turn the mobile manufacturer's downward trend.

"If the market continues to stabilize and we get our new products, we will reach profitability next year," he says and promises to launch new savings as quickly as possible in 2010.

Analysts Corps is however agreed that Sony Ericsson can not demonstrate et positive result until 2011.

Among the economy measures are plans to phase out development centers and to reduce the number of managers.

"I want a flatter structure. Therefore we must remove a number of stocks," said Bert Nordberg to DI.

Sony Ericsson is already living with the active-saving package that will save 10 billion and to date has resulted in 2350 employees have quit.

Bert Nordberg, however, stressed that the main road to profit is not savings but better - and more expensive - phones.

"We should spend more on advanced phones and raise the average selling price," he says to DI.

"We will not chase market share by selling 25 dollar phones in India."
