Sustainability Expert William F. Hoffman Joins UL Environment, Inc.
Standards and Services to Benefit from Hoffman's Technical and Life Cycle Expertise.
NORTHBROOK, Ill., -- UL Environment, Inc. (ULE) today announces William Hoffman as the organization's new environmental scientist in green chemistry. Hoffman joins ULE from the Chicago Manufacturing Center where he was director of sustainability services and managed the Chicago Waste-to-Profit Network, a program that has diverted over 40,000 tons of material from local landfills. At ULE, Hoffman will utilize more than 20 years of environmental science experience for environmental claims validation and sustainable product certification, with a focus on the technical basis for sustainability standards.

Hoffman previously served as principal staff scientist with Motorola Labs Environmental Technology Group where he developed internal standards governing the chemical content of products, Design for Environment training, and product recyclability assessment tools that considered chemical risk, trends in regulation, business need, product design requirements and environmental management trends.
Hoffman is certified by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) as a Qualified Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Practitioner. He has a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Illinois Institute of Technology.
