Txtr - a device for reading electronic books on an open platform

The German company Wizpac at the Frankfurt Book Fair introduced its device for reading electronic books, called txtr. The model has a 6-inch touch screen with a resolution of 800x600 pixels, performed on electronic paper technology and capable of displaying up to 16 shades of gray. The main difference from most similar devices, is open to third-party developers.

Txtr built on ARM-based Freescale processor with a clock speed of 532 MHz with a 64 Mb of RAM and 648 MB of internal memory and slot for microSD memory card format (8 GB comes with the device). The device has a high level of communicating and is equipped with a built-in EDGE / GPRS modem port, USB 2.0, in Bluetooth 2.1 and WiFi 802.11b / g. Dimensions txtr are 151 x 131 x 12 mm, and weight - 300 grams.

The device will be available for pre-order from the first of December, and its delivery will begin the 15 th of that month. Cost txtr be 319 euros. Various versions of the subscriptions will cost from 12 to 15 euros per month.
