Nokia’s new camera phone makes its Canadian debut on Rogers Wireless’ high speed network

The Nokia N86 8MP, Nokia’s first 8 megapixel camera phone now available in Canada.

Toronto–Nokia and Rogers Wireless announced the launch of the new Nokia N86 8MP, a sleek dual sliding smartphone with an eight megapixel camera, giving Canadians the ultimate imaging experience. The Nokia N86 8MP was just named best camera phone by CTIA–The Wireless Association in its first annual “Hot for the Holidays” award program and was winner of the 2009 Best Mobile Imaging Device by the Technical Image Press Association.

As part of Nokia’s popular Nseries lineup, the Nokia N86 8MP combines world-class technology with the best in imaging, music and Internet capabilities. With the eight megapixel camera and 8GB of on-board memory, photo enthusiasts can store up to 3,000 high quality photos. Moments can be captured in low light or in motion thanks to auto focus, flash and the ultra wide angle Carl Zeiss optics.

Just in time for the holidays, DVD-like quality videos of every holiday party can be taken then shown to family and friends on the vibrant OLED screen displaying up to 16 million colours, with a scratch-resistant hardened glass front. Within moments photos and videos can easily be uploaded to favourite social networks such as Ovi Share.

In addition to offering eight megapixels of memories, the Nokia N86 8MP comes with Nokia’s service Ovi Maps giving consumers access to personal navigation and downloadable apps to customize their device.

Optimal for walking or driving, the Nokia N86 8MP comes pre-loaded with Canadian maps, access to 3D landmarks and thousands of Points of Interest letting Canadians know which hot spots are around them. Users can take a picture of themselves then share their location with friends through Ovi Maps. Upon purchasing the device, users will get visual guided turn by turn walk navigation for free and global drive navigation free for 10 non-consecutive days and can purchase additional regional licences such as Traffic and Safety.

•Up to 6.3 hours of talk time and up to 13 days standby time
•Rogers Music Player and access to Rogers Wireless’ urMusic service, giving Canadians access to over a million songs
