HTC and CHT to jointly host 3GPP standards-setting meeting for RAN in 2011

HTC (High Tech Computer) and Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) will jointly host, in Taipei, a standards-setting meeting for the radio access networks (RAN) working group under the 3GPP in February 2011, according to industry sources.

Hosting of the standards-setting meeting will help boost Taiwan makers' interest in joining the development of 4G standards, especially LTE, in addition to the current focus on WiMAX, said the sources.
