Panasonic has developed a direct methanol fuel cell high capacity and long life

Japanese company Panasonic has announced the establishment of a direct methanol fuel cell that can produce electricity equal to the average of 20 watts, which is two times higher than the previous prototype batteries. This company has been achieved through increased efficiency per 1 cubic cm Using this technology, the company plans in 2012 to begin field trials of 100 cotton direct methanol fuel cell.

In addition, Novikov, who presented the company Panasonic, allows you to work for 5000 hours at 8-hour load per day. That longevity of such devices is a major challenge for the commercialization of fuel cell power because of falling output during aging of the electrodes. The solution to this problem from Panasonic was that the company has developed a new technology, supplying electrodes concentrated fuel.

Existing 20-cotton system of direct methanol fuel cell is intended for use by mobile devices, weighs 350 grams. (without fuel) and occupies a volume 360 cm ³

Under development 100-cotton system is already used as a portable generator, taking in the volume of 2 liters and weigh 2 kg without fuel itself.
